about our amazing Record Shop

THE TWO COOLEST OLD MEN IN BRIDPORT?

Andrew and I have now been working in the shop for close to four years, and the other day we had a rather amusing reminder of exactly why we love what we do.
A group of young customers came into the shop and started wandering around, looking at all the bits and pieces, fascinating things and memorabilia that we seem to have accumulated over the years.
Eventually, one of the girls came over to Andrew and said:

“I think you're the two coolest old men we've ever met.”

That made us laugh our heads off — mainly because the one thing Andrew and I have never been is cool!
But, of course, we happily accept the accolade.
It was funny, but it was also genuinely lovely to hear.

MUSIC IS FOR EVERYONE

“At the heart of what we do is introducing people to all sorts of different music.
That's why we don't try to be selective about what we stock.
We love classical music, film soundtracks, military music, rock, pop, jazz, soul, reggae, dance music and just about every other genre you can think of.
New music, old music, familiar music and music you've never heard before — it's all welcome here.
And yes, we love Taylor Swift and all the new artists coming through too.

DISCOVERING SOMETHING NEW

One of the most exciting things about running a record shop is seeing people come through the door and discover music for themselves.
Someone might pick up a record because they love the artwork, recognise the artist, remember the album from years ago — or simply because they've never seen it before.
They'll turn it over, read the sleeve, ask questions and sometimes discover something completely unexpected.
For us, that's what it's all about.
Whether you're a serious collector, a casual listener, a musician or simply someone who loves browsing through records, come and have a look.
You never know what you might discover.
And if Andrew and I can now officially be described as “the two coolest old men”, we'll take that as a bonus.
Long may it last.
